Gotta love how the 3DS homebrew scene is heating up. I may get one soon therefore.
The Gateway 3DS was the first flashcard which worked for 3DS games but it didn't support the newest firmwares. Sky 3DS came out which was just limited to 10 games ($$ ?) but worked on the current firmware. Then Gateway got its comeback by supporting the latest firmware as well. Now there's also an actual homebrew exploit called SSSPwn. It uses a certain game to install the Homebrew Channel. Yes, you heard it right.

Watch out Nintendo, the Wii U is next!
