Total Invincibility Switch?

Okay so I want to make start+dpad left my activator and start+dpad right my deactivator. It's GCN by the way. Here's the original code.

Now, when I hit either activator it makes the game buz for a split second then continues running. I've tested this code offline in several races in BC because of the fireball section and no matter what I try, the code is always on. The above region is NTSC by the way.

why you don't use the same button to activate/deactivate it?
