cgminer is a console based application that mines crypto currencies via your ASIC, Gridseed, USB, Erupter, Rockminer or even your GPU etc. For CPU mining, use CPUminer. Don't do GPU and especially CPU mining though because it can overclock it, which can damage it if you don't know how to operate / manage this program. It's also old, obsolete and isn't efficient enough. You are recommended to buy a few 330 MHs/s USB miners on eBay to start out with or a 2.2 GHs/s USB. There's a shit tonne of people selling them on there!
You will ALWAYS have to use the latest version of cgminer or it might encounter problems with the stratum network and would be a waste of hydro on your part if you let it run with all those errors.
Requirements:
A Windows OS
A 10+ USB port hub
A PSU, depending on what you buy
A fan or two and not a bendable USB one, they are too noisy and don't work efficiently as the desktop ones
A decent computer
And obviously something to mine with (NOT GPU OR CPU!)
If you buy a USB, plug it into your computer, wait 30 seconds and try to pull it out. xD That's why you need a fan.
