He didn't install it on the Wii U, the video started out on the Wii U, then went over to the Wii and it looked like the Wii U, but it's not. You can't play Super Mario Wrestle Bros on the Wii U so how could he have installed the exploit using the game on the Wii U to install the Homebrew Channel?

You can install the HBC on Wii Mode on a Wii U using Smash Stack.
