A variable is a text representation or information.

Local Variable
These will only be available inside the current function.
Code:
modded = 1
myName = "Bully@WiiPlaza"

Global Variable
In order to declare global variables, they need to be attached to something like self or level.
Code:
level.modded = 1
self.name = "Bully@WiiPlaza"
Now both variables can be accessed from anywhere in the same .gsc file.

Arrays
An array can be declared the following:
Code:
position = (x, y, z);
The array position now contains the variables x, y and z.

Code:
newArray = [];
This clears the contents of the single-dimensional array newArray.

Code:
myArray[5] = [];
This declares a multi-dimensional array with 5 dimensions and clears all previous values.

Code:
myArray.size
Returns the size (amount of elements) of that array.

Code:
firstWeaponToken = weaponTokens[0];
This accesses the first element of the array weaponTokens and stores it into the variable firstWeaponToken.

Function Variables

Code:
functionVariable = ::doSomething;

This stores the function named doSomething into the variable functionVariable.
Code:
[[functionVariable]](arguments1, argument2, ...);
This uses a function variable to call the function that has been stored into it (aka doSomething).
