Comcast Hotspot

I knew about comcast and their hotspots they said were everywhere, but i didn't know that the hotspots were provided from comcast customers gateway. I'm currently using comcast so i decided to try out this hotspot, after i connected to it, they asked me to logon to my comcast account or if i input my zip code and email, i get to use the hotspot free for 1 hour. (This is why my ip is different for this post.) So this got me thinking, wouldn't this affect my internet connection slowing it down because my gateway is being used by the hotspot. I contacted them and they said "Don't worry, your internet will not be affected by hotspot users and will not affect your speed." I call bullshit, what do you guys think?

I guess they're right. They give you the hotspot Internet and your home Internet without any restrictions in speed since they don't really depend on each other. Doing such a thing would be douchy anyway. Some companies would do that for sure
