I've been wanting to get back into programming. I'm not very good at it and if I had kept practicing everyday, I prolly would've known the language by now. This is one of the reasons why I want to get back into it. Anyways, my question is: Is there any tutorial(s) that goes through ALL the bits of code. I forget what they're called, but I think you know what I mean. Whether it be in a book, in a series of videos or on a website, I just really want a tutorial for either language that goes through all the bits of code. I've been reading some books and tutorials on YouTube and some websites, but all they teach is building different apps, not about every bit of code and how and when to use it.

Also, what do you recommend I should know first? Java or VB.NET. I'm just not sure about VB.NET because I don't know how long people are going to be using it for.

Thanks!

Yeah, that's a good idea.

In Java for example check these out:
http://www.tutorialspoint.com/java/index.htm

On the left there are all the topics you should learn about so that you can understand most code syntax-wise. I figured their topics were well-chosen and structured but I didn't read the tutorials. It might be a bit short for a 100% understanding so you can research about each of the topics still.

It's really hard to say which language you should learn and which not. Probably forget about Visual Basic, many people say it's bad:
