Hello everyone.
Can anyone please help me to convert this code of Zelda Skyward Sword NTSC to PAL?

The data at this address is what you need to search for in the PAL dump. Go to that address in the NTSC dump, copy enough of the data, and search for it in the PAL dump. If you get a similar match, and everything looks similar at the address as it does in the NTSC dump, it is probably the right address.

I'm not sure if I have those dumps, but will check, and get back to you.

Note: I am unsure of the last line of the code as an address, also. If you are sure you have the right address, but it doesn't work, port the address 7F0720 as well.

04 = Codetype
If Codetype is an odd number (1,3,5, etc.) +1 to address range

Example: 10345C, codetype is 04, even number, so 80, otherwise 81... 110345C.

10345C... The address. Go to this address in the dump you want to port from. Copy at least 12 bytes. Search for the X bytes near the address value in the dump you want to port to. If you get a match, great! Press F3 to search, if you get an error, that's great, because it means it is most likely a match. If it steps though the dump, you might have to make a comparison of the values to see which address is the right one. If you get more than 3 results, go back to the original dump and copy a different set of bytes. For a game like Zelda, it should be very easy to port. Almost, if not all, Nintendo games are easy as hell to port.

Check out these pictures:

It's fairly simple. In fact, it's so simple, the "skill" will never leave you.

Hello again. I have worked on the matter again and it seems that I have advanced. I had many problems creating the ram dumps. These are the possible results:

115DA0
7F0660 or 7F7570

The problem is that when I start the game, it freezes in the first dialogue, and the process doesn't give me more results. Do you know what I am doing wrong?

Glad to hear you are catching onto it. Smile I would just use 115DA0. Don't bother changing the bottom "address".

I don't think so. Could you zip the dumps, and upload the dumps somewhere, so I can take a look myself?

mediafire . com/file/k9lwfnrft96111k/SOUE01-SOUP01.zip/file

Here you have USA 1.00/1.01/1.02 and PAL 1.00/1.01/1.02. Ive used Dolphin 5.0 stable, HxD Hex Editor 2.3 and this tutorial youtube . com/watch?v=23RYt0BYaew

By the way, the code only works in USA 1.00 and the data I gave you is for PAL 1.01. For PAL 1.02 is 115FA0. This is the one that interests me, mainly. And thanks for your help!

I had taken a second look at the code, and refreshed my memory a bit. I believe what is highlighted in red is also an address (0B24A0). Try porting it as well, and let me know.

Awesome! Glad you got it to work.  Smile  C2 codes that are several lines long, usually have an extra address that needs to be ported as well.

By the way, I edited your post to give you porting credits. If you can port at least 3 more codes either for this game or any game, doesn't matter, I will give you code porter status, which will allow you access to the code and RAM dump section.

If you ever need some dumps, just let me know. I used to have a lot more than I do now, but they were lost on my old computer. I might get back into making more RAM dumps.

Greetings from Canada, eh! lol

I'm not going to steal the credits on you, my friend. They're rightfully yours. But sounds good. I'd like to see the next codes you port. Smile

hey man, sorry for late thread dig up! thanks, this is only source i could find for a pal code. thing is, after putting it through geckocodes and adding to my real wii via Usb Loader GX (i'm new to codes!) it doesn't seem to work, and I got some hangs during text and no noticeable difference in speed.

Does anyone know easy way to check game version please? it could be that i have an older PAL version, perhaps? Or i'm doing something silly. Other codes (disabling annoying Fi stuff) seem to work.

Desperate for a text speedup! Smile many thanks.

You can dig up a thread from 8 years ago, if you really wanted to. It creates more activity on the forum. I know most forums are the opposite, but we recommend it. Wink

I am unsure if there is a way to check the game version. One way, possibly, would be to dump the RAM, and search for something that would tell you the game version. I'm pretty sure it would be somewhere in the dump.

You more than likely, have a different game version. To make things easy, would it be possible for you to RAR or ZIP (compress the files into another file, an archive) the ISO you have, and upload it to MEGA, then PM me the link to download it, so I can check the game version?

Thanks.

thank you!. the one i'm using is the same one that's floating around on torrents for years, with hash 4B8BE5EF7092D089FDE6D90EBBB40687C342EB87
i'm not sure if i'm allowed to post a magnet/torent link? thanks. you're probably right about the versions, only i'm not sure what happens to save files if you change versions? hmm.

Alright, I can search for it. Thanks! Due to the policy of Forumotion (the server this forum is running off of) we can't allow anyone to post torrent links, unless it's in a private message. However, magnets or hashes... Yeah, they can be allowed. Forumotion won't really care about a bunch of numbers and letters, lol Wink

"i'm not sure what happens to save files if you change versions? hmm."

Hmm... That's a really good question. When a game gets a patch (updated), the save files stay intact. However, if I port it to your game version, it won't matter either way, because the code will work on your version. That's the purpose of porting.
