How Do You Port ASM Codes?

Can you do it with RAM dumps? If so, do you need any programs to port the ASM code(s)?

The specific type of ASM code that I want to learn how to port is "C2", but I only know how to port 01 to 05 codetypes and I want to know how to port ASM codes.

If someone can give me a short or long tutorial on how to port ASM codes, then that would be great. Thank you.

I think the easiest way to port ASM codes (or the most effective way I should say) is by having a gecko and using either WiiRD or Gecko.NET. Although I could be wrong as I don't have a gecko.

I would use PyiiASMh to look at the addresses used and all.

But C2 is easier as you only need to port the main address depending on what is being done in the code.

No There's a much easier way. Just open the dumps in hxd and copy the whole line the code is on and search it in the other dump, that's where your code will be. Porting codes is probably the easiest thing you could do

The only true way is to take the C2 address and verify (!) that no more addresses are used within the assembly and port all addresses involved if they are not universal. Porting basically means adapting the adresses in a code and not just one. It could be one but also more.

I´ll make a good video tutorial to cover it. Soon and hopefully people care.

I just realized that I have a program called asmPort. I used it last night and tried to port some codes. I tried porting a few codes and the program said "Something went wrong while porting.", but I tried one other code and the program said "The porting was successful! Test the code(s) to see if they work.".

But I wouldn't trust a program to do it for me though. I'll try everyone of your ways on how to port ASM and I'll see if it works or not.

The program is the best porting one ever made, it´s by Stuff. I use it often and it never lies when a success message pops up.

I told him how the program is supposed to do the porting and he programmed it that way. So yeah, don´t worry... I´m included in this. Sounds unbelievable but he really based it off some detailed instructions I posted.

However, if it fails to get it right, it sucks (fail message). I don´t know what went wrong, but that´s a bug he didn´t manage to fix or whatever. You can still port manually, it always is possible. It´s not a flaw in "my" strategy, but in the way he programmed it... he did an amazing job though. I couldn´t do it better until now and I´m not planning on trying any time soon.
