Converting Installers To Portable Apps

Hey,

using the program "Cameyo" one can make an installation-only program a portable app.

This is useful if you want to use the same program on different computers without any drawbacks (new installation, configuration or forbidden installation).

How-to:
Make asystem screenshot before installation and after. It will detect the changes and pack it into a new executable.

There's a program that I know of that does the opposite. All you do is select a directory with the files that you want to pack into an installer and it takes care of the rest. I forget what it's called though. Simple Googling might help me. lol

Lol, the opposite is really dumb since there are too many must-install programs.

Portable is usually better. Some programs need to intregrate into the system for decent functionality though, but many don't.

Oh, yeah, I know right. I always prefer portable programs too, but sometimes you have no choice since some really big programs rely on a shit tonne of DLL, REG, System32 files, etc. and can only be used by the program if they are in a certain directory or whatnot. Some of those programs being Microsoft software.

You'll be surprised how many of them still work if bundled by the portable apps creation software. It claims to work an *any* program. It really isn't true, at least not fully. Some functionality may be broken but yeah. It's worth a try^^
