Any ideas for website.

So I've had this website since August. Comes with all the bells and whistles unlimited everything and even free wordpress one-click bullshit. Me and my son are both in college for computer science and we have a lot of ideas but cant decide on shit. Ive been researching for days now on ways to make money from it and seems hopeless. Ive considered blackhat, whitehat and everything in between. At this point Im convinced the only markets to make money in is Porn and Gaming.

I don't think you should count on making serious money from running a website without selling anything, it just won't happen.

In order to get noticed you need to do something almost nobody did and be the best at it. Again, this is difficult since if it was easy to know it would've been done already. The beginning is really hard but then once it runs it runs.

Have an often-visited website which is free but has advertisements and eventually premium content or have a great product which many people are willing to purchase from your online store.

You could check the Google keyword-tool and find things which have weak content and which are rather popular search terms to show up in the search results for it.

An example for this website's success are the Wii cheat codes and programs for various games. Almost everyone who wants them most likely ends up here at some point since most other sites just aren't as good or popular for exactly that.

Doing everything moderately is crap compared to doing something specific greatly.

It's pretty easy to get "big" by doing illegal things but that'll bite you in the ass sooner or later so don't bother. Here are some examples:
You could make a scam site where you propose certain things which many people want which is fake. For instance a Nintendo 3DS ROM emulator which really is a virus uploaded to a survey website. Per download you get paid a nice amount and if the user runs it his PC will be infected so malware distributors or whatever will pay you also. A site for software cracks and such will do great too because that's what people want. Stolen porn videos? Maybe, but there are like millions of porn sites already.

Are you really good at something? Maybe try to focus on that.

There are so many more tips and tricks for this kind of stuff I know and still I'm not an expert. I'll stop here then, I hope something I mentioned was useful.

Those are some of the same things I came across setting up dupes, exploits, browser re-directs with affiliates, cpa's and other minimal payout online companies. I don't wont to subject people to those same surveys either. It's funny you mentioned illegal activity. I'm in the process of mirroring and copying an entire torrent site. Now all I need is a off shore web host. haha!!!
But yeah! it seems that the most successful sites have become that way because they were somebody's passion or hobby.And eventually developed into a thriving website.
