Hi!

I know Bully@WiiPlaza's made a few codes for Mario Party 9 (wii), such as changing the amount of CPUs, the difficulty, etc.

However, I'd love a code that allows P1 to be set to CPU, just like older Mario Party games.

Please let me know if this is possible, thank you!

I couldn't find the code on GeckoCodes.org. Can you post the code from one of the other Mario Party games, so I can take a look at it? Thanks.

Hi! Thanks for the response!

Yeah there's currently no code for setting P1 to CPU in MP9, at least that I can find!

These two are for MP7 and 8, from a YouTube channel called adamgamer43:

For MP7:
0422D898 60000000
04053A50 60000000

For MP8:
48000000 800030C8
DE000000 80008180
301A0218 4BFFB149
141A0204 48000030
E0000000 80008000
48000000 800030C8
DE000000 80008180
301A96D4 4BFFB149
141A96C0 48000030
E0000000 80008000
48000000 800030C8
DE000000 80008180
301C6194 4BFFB149
141C6180 48000030
E0000000 80008000
48000000 800030C8
DE000000 80008180
301A4954 4BFFB149
141A4940 48000030
E0000000 80008000
48000000 800030C8
DE000000 80008180
301A24E8 4BFFB149
141A24D4 48000030
E0000000 80008000
48000000 800030C8
DE000000 80008180
301A6BA0 4BFFB149
141A6B8C 48000030
E0000000 80008000

These work by allowing an option which was in prior Mario Party games - in a Party Mode (board game), you were previously able to go to Controller Settings and change P1 (or any Player, for that matter) to a CPU, allowing all CPU battles. However, this was removed in MP7 I believe.

MP7 and 8 still have the Controller Settings, but you can't change all players to CPUs, you need at least one Player, which is a limit these codes above remove.

However, MP9 does not have Controller Settings - so I suppose a Gecko Code to achieve this would have to hard switch any Player characters to CPUs (Master), without just activating the option.

Thanks for looking into this! I appreciate it!

It's hard to say if it can be done. MP7 was done with just two lines of 32 bit direct ram writes, while MP8 used several pointers. If they were very similar codes, it would make it seem as if it would be even more so possible. I'm not certain if the Mario Party game series are copy / paste games, which means codes from one game could easily be ported to another.

To further look into this, I'll need NTSC-U RAM dumps for MP7, MP8 and of course, MP9. I might be able to port the codes, but I can't guarantee anything....

And you're more than welcome. That's what I'm here for.  Smile

Sorry, this seems a bit tedious to do and it's been so long since the Wii was active. I'm afraid it won't work out. Sad
It's in the realm of possibility though if someone wants to dig up to a few hours into this. Smile

@ SNB, I'm not sure if I can provide NTSC-U RAM dumps! (not even sure what they are to be honest!)

Thank you so much both of you for looking into this! It's a shame it appears difficult, but I appreciate you having a look!

RAM dumps are a game's or process's memory with addresses values (in Hexadecimal) and assembly instructions, which are all in Hexadecimal.

When a hacker is searching for and modifying changing values or rewriting the assembly, he is making changes to the memory (RAM) in a cheat code that is read by a codehandler (ie. Gecko OS) to perform the task he has written for the game.

A RAM dump is just a file of this that can be browsed in what is known as a Hex editor. RAM dumps are very useful for analysis of game code and for porting codes from one region to another, or in some cases, from one game mode to another.

RAM dumps can be made for Wii / GameCube with either a USB Gecko or Dolphin (easiest method).

Ah okay, I'll look into that, thank you!

Off the top of your head, can you think of a Mario Party game where this would be easier? Perhaps 10 (Wii U), The Top 100 (3DS) or Super (NS)?
